Here are a few snapshots of our time outside the other day:

Two handfuls of "blueberries",
two leaves that Mommy caught as they were falling (way to go, me!) and a baby
acorn, one of our last Camelias, and my own Little Red Riding Hood.

"flower" girl

Based on her preferences for play and work, if I could predict what Aubie would be when she grows up, I would say a chef. Whenever she plays, she is always cooking something. Sometimes when she gets a little hungry, she comes to me and says, "I crack eggs?" Last night, I was making cube steak, but I only had one more left to flour when she discovered what I was doing. "I do to, Mommy?" How could I resist? But when the last piece was covered in flour Aubie was quite disappointed to find out there wasn't any more steak. SO, I told her she could stir the flour; pretend she was battering something. By the time she was done, she was covered in flour. Next time, I think I will let her start with the first piece so maybe I won't have so much to clean up.

last day of November
Can you believe its December already? (well, in like 3 minutes it will be)Man, this year has flown by. Well, I guess I should post the few good pictures I got from David's party since his birthday is in November. And the party seems so long ago that if I don't post soon, then you will forget that I ever said I'd post them.
1)A picture of Daniel and my just-as-favorite cousins, Nathan and Caleb at Georgetown (a big time airsoft place somewhere far away from here--where they and David spent the dayof David's"surprise" party).
2)David's candles and his airsoft gun (in the form of a t-shirt).
3) Leah in her army green (everyone was to come as camo as possible).
4) Another picture of Leah in her army green. I am not sure exactly what look she's going for here... I think she is awestruck at how much our decorating looks like the inside of a military tent. David told me all it needed was a ____________ map (I forget the word... something about strategy or something, but it sounded real professional when he said it) laying on the table and it would have looked very realistic.

Thanksgiving and the cleanup following...

I am thankful to have a sink. I am thankful to have dishwashing liquid. I am thankful to have dish cloths. But if I am to truly be honest, I would gladly give up my dishcloths and dishwashing liquid to have a dishwasher (at this point, I might even throw the sink into the deal). I tried to wash as I went, but a batch of cookies would get done and then I would need to start something else, so, maybe one or two things got cleaned in the process. By the time we got home from Mimi's that night, I was tired and did not want to face the mountain that stood before me in the kitchen, so I went to bed instead. Hoping beyond hope that some little elves had come and washed all my dishes for me, I woke up and walked slowly into the kitchen to find... the same horrendous sight that I had left the night before. But my sweet little helper was offering once again, "I wash dishes too. I help you." I am so sad that I didn't think to get pictures of her helping me make our Thanksgiving food.
So I had to take a picture of her helping me clean up afterward (even though it displays my horrible sink--the one that I have decided I would most definitely throw into the trade deal for a diswasher). She loves to help Mommy. If you haven't already guessed, I HATE washing dishes! And even though she didn't really wash anything, her being there helped me get the job done.
The other 2 pictures are of David, Garrett (my "favorite" cousin), and my brother Daniel, and then of Garrett and Aubie. That would have been a perfect picture if Aubie hadn't closed her eyes. I wish I had more, but I have kinda been in a picture slump lately, and really don't take many unless something hits me up side the head and says "TAKE SOME PICTURES!". And since that sort of thing rarely happens, I only got about 7 or 8 pictures at Thanksgiving.

just a quick note...
Hi everyone. I hope that you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Ours was really nice. I can't really write anything right now because I am in the middle of cleaning the house. David has stepped out for a few minutes and that is the ONLY reason I have been able to get online. ; ) So, just wanted you to know that Thanksgiving cooking didn't kill me, but the cleaning up the kitchen afterward just about did. Will write again soon! ~Saige

gosh!
It's been almost a week since I last posted. Sorry. I just couldn't think of anything I wanted to say. But I have been thinking about what I used to blog about. And how I don't blog about that sort of thing very much anymore. And what is that sort of thing? Well, Tommy* for one. I used to talk about my troubles with him all the time. But I have gotten so wrapped up in trying to make the picture fit the story, that I haven't even told you that he isn't in my class anymore. Hasn't been for 2 weeks. The fact that I haven't even blogged about that thorn in my side having been removed makes me think about all the things that I get so upset about and cry and pray and say, "God, why the crap is this happening?" And then when it goes away, I completely forget that it ever bothered me in the first place. Instead of seeing it as an answered prayer and being thankful that I don't have that problem bothering me anymore. I've just been trying to think about some of the things I should be thankful for this week. And that is definitely one of them. I am so happy that God worked it out for him to go to the next class up where he is learning letters, colors, and numbers and even saying the pledge of allegiance. So much better for such an intelligent boy than just playing with some plates and a grocery cart (we have a lot more than that to play with in my class--I just said that for effect). So anyway. I am truly thankful for his being somewhere better for him and that being so much better for me ; )
*in case you haven't read the Tommy story, the name has been changed to protect the--well, now that he's not in my class, I can say it-- innocent ; )
Tomorrow, I will try to post a picture or two of David's "surprise" party. Today's picture is one that doesn't fit the story, but look at my cute little fashion designer. Came up with the accessories all by herself.

every other day
When you read the words "every other day", you automatically start singing "Monday, Monday"? I do. I can't even say those words with out thinking of the Mamas and the Papas. Speaking of the Mamas and the Papas, don't you wish Lane Bryant had been around when they were singing? Poor old Mama Cass. She wasn't even as big as the mumus made her look. If she could have gone to Lane Bryant ( the one in the mall, not the catalog that sells mumus), she could've looked great. Anyway, the reason I am writing these three little words is because that is how often I am going to try to blog. I...
Ha. Wouldn't that be nice. Every other month is more like it.--10/09/08

what a Wiggly time!
Let me just begin this by saying, I love the Wiggles. We had a great time seeing them at the Centerplex last night. Wiggles fans will notice that someone else is wearing Greg's shirt. : ( We were told at the concert that he was sick and still at home in Australia. Here is a news article about his illness. I was sad that Greg wasn't there--I absolutely love his voice--but Sam, his understudy, did an awesome job. And of course the other Wiggles did such a great job distracting us from the fact that Greg wasn't there, that I was indeed distracted. I've read that some people feel jipped because they didn't get the "entire Wiggles experience". What the crap? is what I say. They did a smashing job and I would pay $34.50 to see them any day! (of course, thanks to Mimi, I didn't have to. Thank you Meems!) I love the Wiggles more than ever after seeing them "in concert". They just get up there and have fun and
then include you and your child in that fun. And yes, in case you were wondering, they really do play their own instruments. Anthony (blue) plays the drums for real and of course Jeff (purple) plays keyboard, because he has composed many of their songs. And then, when it was time for Mu-Mu-Music with Murray, Murray (the one in red) said, "Let's see. Maybe a little something like this." And he started playing "Stairway to Heaven". It was great. David was impressed I think. He sorta thought they just played enough to look like they knew what they were doing on the videos. But they are Awesome! I love you Wiggles! WOOOOOOOOOO! ok, I wasn't this bad at the "concert", but just about. I kinda understand the British Invasion now (as in the Beatles, not the one Paul Revere was hollering about. And yes, I know they are Australian, not British.) Did I tell you I love the Wiggles?
I thought about cropping this picture of Captain Feathersword, but the people in the audience are so great. Look at how happy that lady is. And that little boy is having such a fun time!

Pretty happy about this one. Although, in another set, Aubie had more guy matches than girls. And one of them happened to be the President of the United States. It's funny, but when you look at the people and then at yourself or your child, you do start to see common features. With some of the likenesses, you can't even really identify what they are, but its like you can just tell somehow that the people look alike. Its really weird. Thanks Kate, this has been fun!

Grace Kelly and Chelsea Clinton
How in the world did they get 83% for Grace Kelly from this picture. Don't get me wrong--I'm not complaining ; ) I actually think it has a bit to do with the fact that someone's head chopped off the bottom of my chin which makes it appear to be straight across just like Grace Kelly's. Hannah's friend Kate posted some of these on her blog and I thought, "that might be fun!" since she had some pretty close matches with hers.
Yeah, the more I look at it, its the cut-off chin. But, let's not steal my all my thunder, I did have another Grace Kelly match today! Oh, but wait... I think I had a cut off chin in that pic as well. Stink! And that really was making my day.
Oh! Why is Chelsea Clinton in the title, you ask? I got a match with her too. This didn't make my day. It was a newer more attractive shot of her, but still, Chelsea Clinton. When you get a Princess Grace and then a Chelsea, you kinda start to realize this is probably just another ploy to get me to waste time on the internet. But I'll post another one and let you be the judge.
The pictures are gone.--10/09/08

Georgia on my mind

I am so excited to post this! Cause, guess what? I finally have something crafty to post after what? like 2 months? Good Gracious! Some friends of ours are moving to a very far away, very cold state. So I wanted them to remember Georgia as a green, happy place. This pillow was so fun to make and it really didn't take that long to do either. I was like, Thank you, God! for this idea, etc. My last project, though I had the inspiration (and a deadline), was an easy purse pattern, but my sewing machine kept acting wonky and I was praying the whole time that I could just get it done (I did, thank goodness, but right on time. Oh and the reason I haven't posted it is because I had to take the picture with my "snail" camera). This time, things went swimmingly! I actually got done 18 hours early! Amazing, isn't it? That I got done 18 hours early? This calls for a woohoo. Woohoo!

a link
Since I have tried everything I know to do, (I've even tried some things I was afraid I shouldn't do lest it mess up my whole Saige Page), and I still can't get the links to come up on here, I will just have to put one in this post. Here is the link to Hannah's Blog . She posted pictures of Margo Lucia today! So precious. What a sweet little baby. : )

Aubie's new do
Aubie looked so sweet getting her first real haircut.
But I forgot the camera. I had to take a few little blurry, very-hard-to-see pics with my phone's camera. Pitiful. But I did get these "after" shots. I just wish I had been able to take the "before" and "during" ones to go along with them.

I am trying to type this while Aubie is sitting in my lap saying, "I want pay a game. Mommy, I want Wiggles. I-want Wiggles." So I am hoping to get this one little paragraph posted before she has a fit (no nap today, so its very likely; ] ) But I thought you all should see this! I was very unhappy to find balloons all over the floor. But I was very happy to find them sorted by color! For the mother of a child who calls every color blue--wait, that was so 2 months ago, now its yellow--this is quite an encouraging sight! (This shot was right before she mixed them all back up.)

Woohoo!
Well, I haven't been feeling too swooft (as my Dad would say) the past few days. If feeling ok, mentally, then not physically, and vice versa. Basically, it can all be summed up in 3 little disgusting letters: PMS. So there ya go.
But I am sure you are wondering why the woohoo? Hannah's in labor! Woohoo! My friend Hannah (some of you know her) went in to labor this morning at 11:30. So Margo Lucia should be here any hour now. In fact she could already be here, but I am waiting to find out. Will let you know when she arrives!
So for a picture, lets do something Hannah related.
This is me, Hannah, Aubie, and two-week old Lorna (who turns 2 this month! happy birthday).
P.S. I have an excuse for looking so dreadful! We had just gotten to Texas when this picture was taken. Lookin' good after such a long drive ;)

my little chef

Just look at this culinary masterpiece. Chef had these laid out so beautifully when I walked into the room. Each plate had a serving of "sponge cake" and had been accented with a block of, hmm... white chocolate (one of them has been iced with a"v" which stands for "very delicious"). They were all set out so neatly and ready to be served. Isn't that just adorable? I was even able to overlook my fake food aversion to enjoy looking at this sweet little meal.

the saige page...

Ok, this is one idea that only took a few minutes to come up with. I would love to embroider something, but other crafty folks have already done that, and I don't want to look like I'm copying. But I think this would look pretty cool if I could ever get it up to the top of the page.

Waaaah. I keep looking at all these great craft blogs and everyone of them has their own unique header. Like http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/heather_bailey/. So cool. But I cannot figure out how to get something like that without paying an arm and a leg (or going insane). The blog pages that are extremely easy to figure out (the kind I need) cost a lot of money. And the ones that are free, well, they're cute, but if you want to do anything special on it, you have to understand how to talk the language, and I don't! I think this calls for something drastic. I am gonna have to ask David for help. And hopefully, in a few days, the Saige Page will start looking even more Saige-y.
A fall flashback. Aubie playing in the leaves 2 years ago. :' ) <--- My version of a happy/sad face (I figured out how to make one, Sue!)

"Gaston, you are positively primeval!"
I can't help but think of Beauty and the Beast, the part where Gaston says, "How can you read this? There are no pictures!" And Belle responds with, "Gaston, you are positively primeval!" But when I come across a blog, wikipedia entry, etc. with absolutely no eye candy, all I can see is, Blah, blah blah, blah. Blah-blah, blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah. Call me "primeval", but there it is. Its almost like the antithesis of "Shoot the duck!!!!! Win your free computer!!!!!!" jumping around the screen every thirty seconds when you are just trying to figure out the way to spell rhinocerus on dictionary.com (did I spell it right? I was too afraid of having to shoot ducks to check), but just as annoying.

our national fair is a great national fair...
That doesn't quite have the same ring, does it? Anyway, sorry these fair pictures are so long in coming. It was only 2 1/2 weeks ago, but so much has happened since then, it feels like ages. Here are a few of the highlights:
David, Aubie, and Aubie's friend, Jill intently watching the marionette show.
Aubie waits while Pinocchio tells her daddy a secret.
David, Aubie, Jill, and her daddy, Steve, preparing to ride the Dizzy Dragon.
Despite the long faces, the girls had a great time backseat driving together.

mini me
Due to the smashing success of the first forced perspective picture, I had to post this one. I actually think its a better picture, but it almost seemed too strange for a miniature person to be held by a woman with a little hand growing out of her chest.

back again
Its seems like just as I was getting started back blogging, I had to stop again. But it was for a good reason. This weekend, I had the best weekend ever. There is nothing like God showing his love to you over and over and over again. If you have never been to Tres Dias (or Cursillo or Walk to Emmaus), all I can say is, when you are there, you just find out how much God loves you. I just got really refreshed. It feels like my insides got a pedicure. Of course, after you have such a great experience, and you come home to the mess that was made in just a few hours of a two year old entertaining herself while her father worked from home, its really hard to "think high thoughts" and not let "the grime of daily living get you down (a line from one of my favorite old movies, Summer Magic)." But I have been trying. (In case any of you are thinking, "Well, her father should have cleaned up that mess before you got home!" You do not understand how very like being in the Twilight Zone--black and white and everything--it is to try to get out of the house and leave for the weekend with Aubie pulling out toys up until the very minute you leave. He did good to get out of the house.)
For the picture in today's post, you get to see what the cover of Summer Magic looks like. Yes, that tiny little blonde person is Haley Mills, and I don't know if you can see anyone else... (I am sure there are better Summer Magic pictures, but I could have taken this picture myself since Mom has it, so I didn't really feel like I was posting something illegally. )

goth girl returns

Yep, here she is again, only this time she didn't eat the stamper, she just disected it... then rubbed her hands all over her already cheetos-y mouth. Notice how the orange complements her fall shirt beautifully. (that plastic bag behind her head makes her look like the Flying Nun)

Where have I been?
Some of you have probably been checking everyday to see if I have put anything new on here. I am sorry if I have let you down. I didn't mean to disappoint. I just needed to prioritize. Its not good to spend time on the computer when you don't have any clean clothes to wear. Or when goth children are destroying your house, it's better to put them (her) in time out than to take a picture because it will make a funny blog (by the way, I have another goth girl shot... this time with cheetos lips too. I'll post it soon). So, yeah. I have been trying to focus. And blogging was taking too much time away from my DISORGANIZED house. But guess what? My house is clean, my house is clean [to be read in a sing-songy manner]. I am so happy. And I am trying my darndest to keep it that way. (Thanks again to my "spacial" mother. She has helped me out SO much!)
Here are a few pictures from the pumpkin patch that I took yesterday. No, she isn't looking at anyone standing to the side of us. Its just that I kept asking her to "look at Mommy", and that was the result I got. Maybe I should say, "Look to the side out of the corners of your eyes" and
then, she just might look at Mommy.
The one good one is off center because I was trying so hard to get her to smile at me. Oh well. : )

a few more Rome pictures
Aubie daintily poking a stick in the stream.
Leah, Aubie and I standing atop the levy behind The River Church.
Aubie scooting down the steep levy hill.
It doesn't look that steep from the pictures, but if you are wearing slide on shoes, you can't get any traction. And if you take your shoes off, but you have pantyhose on, then you certainly can't get any traction. Just take my word for it. I ended up having to sit down and then push my way up backwards the last few feet in order to get to the top. My shoulders hurt for the next few days :-0

Rome sweet Rome
This weekend was so much fun. I just love going to Mountain Day at Berry College. Here's a link that explains what it is.Georgia: Martha Berry/Mountain Day (Local Legacies: Celebrating Community Root
Here are a few pictures from this weekend:
Aubie, Aunt Leah and I looking through the window of the old mill. David was up on the hill taking the picture. The fuzzy sparkles are the water coming off the big water wheel.
Granny and Aubie watching the march.
Aubie hugs her Daddy on this perfect October day.

click the x
Hey, if anyone is having trouble seeing the trivet, click the little red x, and you should be able to see it. I dont get all this http:=deselect blogger image gracefully": www.blah blah blah stuff. Somehow when I start messing with the Edit Html then I edit the wrong things. What does all that stuff mean anyway? Hats off to the people who can understand that computer language. I would be better of at Klingon, I think. Have a great weekend.

trivet

Just look at this thing. Is it not the coolest trivet ever? I got it at the Macon Rescue Mission about 2 weeks ago and wanted to post a picture as soon as I got it. But then came the pirate party and then David being gone and then the sickness that just has nearly gone away today (still not feeling my chipper self). It is just totally me. It says Moldova... pirates... it says yellow kitchen (and what's up with that floating chicken head?)! I just love it. So anyway, I got and said, "Wouldn't it be so cool to have a yellow and black kitchen." Well, guess what? I already do. My ugly plastic stick-on tile from the 1950's just happens to be yellow and black. How cool is that? Well, its not. At least the plastic stick-on tile isn't. So over the next few months, I plan on making that yellow and black kitchen I've been dreaming about for the last 2 weeks. With something as awesome as this to base it on, who cares if its stick-on tile? Did I mention its plastic?

Sorry...
I think I promised a few of you that I would blog something yesterday. Well, I started on one. But since I am still not feeling well, and Aubie keeps on going whether I feel good or not, I wasn't able to finish it and then I lost it. I am really tired of being sick. Good news, though! Feeling this bad has lost me like 4 or 5 lbs! Woohoo! At least there is something to be excited about. While I was really sick, and David's back was out for 2 days, an unannounced hurricane attacked our house. I've decided to call it Hurricane Aubilane. Such destruction. I have only just today gotten the energy to begin the reconstruction of what used to be our living room. But... 4 pounds! Woohoo!
