We were planning for this weekend's trip to Rome to be our opportunity to see David's grandmother one last time, but we didn't get that chance. David's mom called at 1:00 Friday afternoon to tell us that Granny Jessie had passed away. Her struggle with cancer was finally over. It was a sad occasion, but we were able to see many family members that we don't normally see, so that was good. We were absolutely surprised and thrilled to see David's sisters from Texas! They flew in Sunday morning and got to the funeral home in time to follow the processional to the graveside service. David, Dorenda, and I were just amazed that they had come so far. They didn't let us know or anything, so when I saw them, I was like, "now, is there someone that lives here in Rome who looks like them?" Nope. It was them. It's been 2 years since we last saw them, so we had a wonderful visit. Jan, a friend from church (Lindsay, tell your mom that we said thanks!), provided a wonderful lunch for us, along with some cookies that, as you can see, Aubie thoroughly enjoyed. Once again, a trip to Rome without seeing Hannah (though I did have a good visit with her mom). Maybe next time : ( I hope! Thanks for all the prayers for our family. It's been kinda sad around here lately, but I know good things are just around the bend.
